Cost: $450 ($300 Alumni)

Deadline to Apply: September 27th, 2019

Brand new offering from SITI Company!

The 6 classes spread over 2-weeks will explore the dynamics of applying SITI Company’s renowned training methodologies to scene and monologue work. Students will learn how to quickly apply the tools, techniques, and values that they learn in the Suzuki and Viewpoints training to theatrical texts, both contemporary and classical. The class will look at crucial issues such as the circumstance of the body, the voice with intention, the stakes of a scene, improvisation and staging, and the dialogue between rehearsal and performance. Class time will be structured to include Suzuki, Viewpoints and “on your feet” rehearsal with critical feedback. Students will work on one scene and one monologue to be chosen in conversation with SITI faculty in advance. Individual rehearsal time outside of class is required for this session.

About the Training:

Developed by the internationally acclaimed director Tadashi Suzuki and the Suzuki Company of Toga, the Suzuki Method seeks to heighten the actor’s emotional and physical power and commitment to each moment on the stage.

The Viewpoints were first articulated by choreographer Mary Overlie who broke down the two dominant issues performers deal with – time and space – into six categories, the Six Viewpoints. Since that time the SITI Company has expanded her original notions and adapted them for actors.
