SITI Company is hiring a new full-time position: Special Projects Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

JOB TYPE:  Full-Time (18 month position): NYC-based with in-person and remote work
SALARY: $45,000 – $52,000 annually with benefits

SITI Company seeks a detail-oriented and dynamic individual to work closely with the Producing Director and Executive Director as the company executes its Legacy Plan activities and prepares for its 30th Anniversary Season in 2022. This is a unique opportunity to participate in an organizational transition over the course of 18 months, to create the systems and structures that will preserve the legacy of a significant ensemble company, and to document the process for field-wide learning. The ideal candidate will have a multitude of interests and skills related to producing and arts management. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Education

  • Implement recruitment and marketing plans for NYC-based and virtual training programs as well as for the final Summer Workshop with Skidmore College in June 2022.
  • Work with SITI artists to communicate their artistic goals and curriculum externally, creating application and payment processes, and responding to artist inquiries about programs in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain student records and reconcile payments for all education programs, as well as create and manage budgets in collaboration with Executive Director.

Production & Touring

  • Work with the Producing Director to develop, implement and manage the 30th Anniversary New York City season activities for the 21/22 season.
  • Work with Producing Director and design team to manage the touring logistics for production such as creating itineraries, securing travel, visas, and accommodations for our artists and crew.
  • Act as lead producer and curator for Thought Center studio discussion series, SITI Socials, and other virtual/in-person events for alumni and audiences.

Archive & Transition

  • Work with Archivist and Archive Fellow to ensure timely delivery of all components of the Archive by the end of 2022.
  • Work with Executive Director and Producing Director to evaluate IT systems, database management, create and maintain digital and hard file systems with an eye towards streamlining processes for the post-2022 entity.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently, take initiative, track multiple projects, prepare professional quality documents, be a vocal advocate and ambassador for SITI, and advance the Company’s mission through their everyday work.  Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to work with imagination and determination when facing obstacles, impeccable written and verbal communication skills, and computer literacy are essential.

Required

  • Previous administrative experience within a theater company, dance company or similar not-for-profit performing arts organization.
  • Curiosity about the field, tendency towards teambuilding, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A genuine interest in SITI’s artistic work and legacy to the field.
  • Love of creating and maintaining systems to streamline processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to encourage, engage and energize colleagues and stakeholders.
  • The willingness and curiosity to engage in the life and activities of SITI Company.

Preferred

  • Understanding of SITI training methodologies and work.
  • Experience with databases, such as Salesforce, as well as platforms like Acuity and WordPress.
  • Experience with theatrical touring logistics such as researching and securing visas; managing domestic and overseas shipping; and booking travel and accommodations for artists and technical crew.
  • Experience in marketing and social media management.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Japanese or other languages is a plus.

Processing Archivist

JOB TYPE: Part-Time (6 month position with the possibility for extension)
NYC-based with in-person and remote work
SALARY: $30/hour for 20-30 hours/week

SITI is currently in the process of a comprehensive Legacy Plan which seeks to preserve the Company’s body of work for future generations. The Legacy Plan includes a 30th Anniversary finale season, the creation of the SITI Living Archive, and robust training and community engagement offerings. At the conclusion of the finale season in December 2022, SITI Company will cease to operate in its current iteration as a touring, teaching, performing ensemble with an administrative staff and a studio and instead will transition to a more flexible configuration. Some SITI Company members will continue to work on theatrical projects together and separately, in addition to teaching and licensing SITI Company works. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

SITI Company seeks a detail-oriented and dynamic individual to work closely with Sharon Lehner, SITI Archive Consultant, along with SITI’s Producing Director and Executive Director on Phase 1 of the SITI Living Archive. This is a unique opportunity to preserve the legacy of a significant ensemble company, and to document the process for field-wide learning.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and implement a retention schedule;
  • Shred records of non-archival value that are past their required retention dates;
  • Research appropriate digital tool for the description and management of digital surrogates such as Collective Access;
  • Hold regularly scheduled meetings and archival reviews of records;
  • Structure how SITI Company will contribute to the project;
  • Arrange records with respect to their provenance and original order, when possible, to protect their context;
  • Digitize selected records;
  • Identify and administer the outsourcing of digitization services;
  • Process physical collections;  
  • Create finding aids;
  • Activate the Archives—Amplify SITI Archives project as it is evolving on website;
  • Support SITI Archives fundraising efforts.

  • A genuine interest in SITI’s artistic work and legacy to the field;
  • Master of Library and Information Sciences or Archival Studies from an ALA-accredited institution;
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience;
  • Practical knowledge of archival theory and best practice;
  • Knowledge of professional principles and best practices;
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, as well as manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Excellent organizational, time, and project management skills;
  • Ability to learn and use dynamic database, as well as a basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • The willingness and curiosity to engage in the life and activities of SITI Company;
  • Familiarity with current trends, issues, and ever-evolving standards and best practices in the field.

Preferred

  • Demonstrated project management experience;
  • Working understanding of performance-based archives;
  • Knowledge of web based relational databases used for description;
  •  Understanding of SITI training methodologies and work.
